Tuition Scholarships & Graduate Assistantships |
Tuition scholarships pay full tuition (in-state or out-of-state) but no stipend. Holders of tuition scholarships are required to work 8 hours per week and to take nine hours of coursework leading to their degree.
Students who wish to be considered for a graduate assistantship or a graduate fellowship should request application forms from the School of Graduate Studies. The completed forms should be returned to the School of Graduate Studies for distribution to the appropriate departments and offices. Applicants will not be approved for an assistantship until they have been admitted to graduate study. The assistantships are available on a competitive basis.
Students receiving graduate assistantships must register for at least nine graduate hours per semester within their approved graduate program unless a waiver is obtained from the Dean of the Graduate School. During the summer terms, graduate students on assistantships must register for a total of six hours. Out-of-state tuition is waived for graduate students who hold assistantships. All or part of the in-state tuition may be waived, depending on the level of award. Graduate assistants may not take more than 13 hours of graduate credit per semester without prior permission from the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Students normally do not hold a graduate assistantship for more than two years.
